It is also a fashionable shopping destination, and home to some of Boston’s tallest office buildings.

Prior to a monumental 19th-century filling project, the Back Bay was an actual bay. Today, along with neighboring Beacon Hill, it is one of Boston’s two most expensive residential neighborhoods.

Yesterday I signed a listing for a wonderful property on Beacon Street in Back Bay.  It will go on the market March 1.  This week and next video will be shot of the property, the area and the homeowner who will discuss their 17 years in the home and why they bought and loved raising their children there.  For some families raising your children in a city is a problem, but for those who crave the location to history, great schools, constant action and great art the city is the place to be.

Our home has two levels with it’s entry level on the first floor. This is particularly good for a young family carrying groceries and carriages.  The two levels permit a separation of sleeping from living and makes the condo more like a traditional single family home.

Clarendon Street Park, Boston MA

Back Bay is home to one of the nicest city parks called Clarendon Street Park.  It is used by the locals and several of the local private schools as their playground, but it is really home for the neighborhood.  Where families in the suburbs are driving their children around for arranged play dates, a Back Bay family only needs to walk over to the park and join in on the fun.  If you are lucky enough to live near the park, as is this listing, you can duck back home for bathrooom and snack breaks.

The architecture of this area is part of the National Historical landmarks for its beauty and grace. The plan of Back Bay, by Arthur Gilman of the firm Gridley James Fox Briant, was greatly influenced by Haussmann’s renovation of Paris, with wide, parallel, tree-lined avenues unlike anything seen in other Boston neighborhoods.  This property will not be on the market for long.  I will announce the address and share some video with you next week.
